The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP 8171) has announced a major upgrade to its payment system for 2025. Instead of collecting cash from agents or standing in long queues at payment centers, beneficiaries will now receive Rs. 13,500 directly in their bank accounts. This step is aimed at improving transparency, reducing delays, and giving people more control over their funds.
This article explains how the new system works, who is eligible, and what you need to do to start receiving your payments directly.
What’s New in the BISP 8171 Payment System?
Previously, BISP beneficiaries often faced long lines, unfair deductions, or delays when receiving their financial assistance. Payments were disbursed through retail agents, mobile wallets, or special payment camps. While these methods provided access to cash, they also created challenges like hidden fees and lack of transparency.
From 2025, things are changing. Under the new system:
-
Rs. 13,500 is transferred straight into your bank account every quarter.
-
Beneficiaries can withdraw money anytime from ATMs or bank branches.
-
No agents or middlemen are involved — eliminating unfair cuts.
-
SMS alerts keep you updated about each transaction.
This new approach gives recipients direct access to their funds and more financial independence.
How to Receive BISP Payments Through Your Bank Account
The process to switch to the new payment system is simple and designed for ease of use:
-
Open or Link a Bank Account
Visit any participating bank (like HBL, UBL, Meezan Bank, Bank Alfalah, or National Bank of Pakistan). Take your original CNIC and proof of BISP registration with you to open a basic free account. -
Provide Your Mobile Number
Make sure your SIM is registered in your name so you can receive payment updates by SMS. -
Submit Details to BISP
Share your CNIC, bank account details, and mobile number at your nearest BISP Tehsil Office or submit them online at 8171.bisp.gov.pk. -
Wait for Confirmation
Once your details are verified, you will receive an SMS confirming that your next installment of Rs. 13,500 will be deposited directly into your bank account. -
Withdraw Funds Anytime
Cash can be withdrawn from any ATM or bank counter without extra charges.
Who Is Eligible for Direct Bank Transfers?
This new system is currently available to:
-
Women registered under the BISP Kafaalat Program.
-
Beneficiaries with valid CNICs and registered mobile numbers.
-
Families who have completed biometric verification.
-
Those who linked their bank accounts before the August 2025 deadline.
If you haven’t yet linked your bank account, you can still receive payments through the old method for now. However, non-banked payments will be phased out by the end of 2025.
Benefits of the New System
The shift to direct bank transfers offers several advantages:
-
Transparency: Every transaction is recorded in your bank statement.
-
Security: Reduces the risk of fraud, theft, or unauthorized deductions.
-
Convenience: Withdraw cash anytime without waiting in line.
-
Women’s Empowerment: Direct access to funds strengthens financial independence.
-
Financial Inclusion: Encourages beneficiaries to open bank accounts and start saving.
Overcoming Challenges
While the new payment method is modern and efficient, some challenges remain. In remote areas with limited bank branches, BISP plans to deploy mobile banking vans by the end of 2025. To help beneficiaries unfamiliar with banking, awareness campaigns and SMS guides are being launched. Special facilitation desks have also been set up at BISP Tehsil Offices to handle biometric mismatches.
Checking Your BISP Payment Status
Beneficiaries can easily check their eligibility and payment details:
-
SMS Method: Send your CNIC number to 8171. You will receive an instant SMS with your payment status.
-
Online Method: Visit 8171.bisp.gov.pk, enter your CNIC and Captcha code to view your bank transfer details.
A Step Toward Digital Pakistan
This upgrade is more than just a new payment method — it’s a step toward digital inclusion and financial empowerment. By removing middlemen and transferring Rs. 13,500 directly to beneficiaries, the government is ensuring that support reaches the right people securely and on time. It also promotes savings and aligns with Pakistan’s vision for a “Digital Pakistan 2025.”
For millions of low-income families, the BISP 8171 direct bank payment system marks a fresh start — one where transparency, dignity, and financial independence come first.
